CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB)- At least seven people were displaced by a fire on Long Ave. in Cheektowaga on Sunday.
Fire crews told News 4 the fire started in a garage and quickly spread to two other homes.
One firefighter was injured after a collapse in one of the structures. The crew member was taken to ECMC with shoulder injuries.
Pine Hill Fire Department Chief Leonard Luh said there were difficult conditions.
“Number one is it was windy when we first got here and the buildings are close together,” he explained. “We’re in the city so our neighbors are very tight and the problem is we had the garage right here at the rear of the house.”
Firefighters said the homeowners were at the scene when the fire started but none of them were injured.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced families. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
